مانشستر مدينة بريطانية تقع في شمال غرب إنجلترا ، من المدن الصناعية العريقة التي انطلقت فيها الثورة الصناعية في أوروبا الغربيَّة ، ويوجد فيها كبريات جيل جامعات القرميد الأحمر : جامعة مانشستر وجامعة مانشستر متروبوليتان . وتشتهر مدينة مانشستر بالاستاد الرياضي (مانشستر يونايتيد) . شهدت المدينة علماء كبار منهم عالم الكيمياء الشهير جون دالتون مكتشف الذرة ، وكارل ماركس مؤسس الشيوعية .
